ICCI DELEGATION TO AIOU

Visit of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Delegation to AIOU:

A meeting was held with the delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor AIOU. The VC briefed the members about the vision of AIOU and imparting education. He desired the skills and behavioral change as compulsory components of education along with knowledge. He further desired input from Chamber of Commerce and Industry as stakeholder in curriculum for Business and Commerce programs so as to produce productive manpower for the industry at different levels. He highlighted the importance of focusing the client side requirements. He explained that we have the capacity to impart education from entry level to the in-service employee and executives of the industry. 

The Chamber should identify the industry specific requirements; the academia will design courses according to the industry requirements. This approach will improve the productivity of the industry and reduce the educated joblessness. 

The Prof. Dr. Rashid Naeem proposed the delegation that the Chamber should identify the industry problem and AIOU will conduct research by assigning topic to the research students.

The AIOU and delegation of ICCI have agreed on the following points:

i. AIOU will form a committee to work with ICCI for opening up international Campuses of AIOU.

ii. Air time of FM 91.6 radio broadcast for Business and Commerce information may be provided to the ICCI. 

iii. The teaching model using ipad technology will be evaluated by the Computer Science Department and submit report to the Vice Chancellor within one month. 

iv. Certificate courses will be offered by AIOU in consultation with ICCI. 

v. AIOU may provide space for opening up Entrepreneurship Development Centre.
